Master of the End Times

Chapter 130 - Chen Ming in One Piece

Chapter 130: Chen Ming in One Piece

“Zhao Yu, don’t worry about it. You are more than capable of earning the G-tier badge. I am confident that you will be given one if you get a good grade this time. You might not even need to kill a monster.”

“Stop worrying about things you can’t control.”

“Yeah. Don’t compare yourself to that physical freak. What he did could hardly be called an ability!”

Zhao Yu was comforted after she heard the reassuring words from her classmates.

It was the ancient warrior class turn next. There were a total of three classes so the evaluation was done on ten students simultaneously. Nevertheless, it still progressed much slower than before.

Zhou Hao was at his usual best. He and Lu Meng had earned a lot during the zombie invasion. He used the credits to resupply chakra pills and strengthening potions to boost his training. As a result, Zhou Hao was now steadily reaching G6-tier.

A few rubber dummies were deformed brutally by Zhou Hao’s punch during the test.

The first place in the ancient warrior group belonged to Zhou Hao. His battle power—3,190 points.

After that, those from the gunner class came forth to take the test.

This group was actually more splendid to watch. The better gunner was usually the one who had spent more on their gears. The loaded ones brought out machine guns and plasma bombs, while the poor could only carry cheap handguns. No matter how accurate they were, nobody was bothered to pay the latter any attention.

Qin Feng who was initially daydreaming was suddenly intrigued by something he saw. He took a better look and was utterly dumbstruck.

‘Chen Ming! How could it be?’

Qin Feng focused on him and realized that Chen Ming was holding two guns in his hands. The metallic gray weapons were two gorgeous-looking plasma guns.

But what drew Qin Feng’s attention was neither the guns nor his accuracy. He was focused on Chen Ming’s legs.

Chen Ming was wearing long pants and the pair of legs hidden beneath them seemed absolutely normal.

“Zhou Hao, do you know what happened to Chen Ming? I thought that he missed the application date? How did he get into the university?”

Zhou Hao replied to him through the communicator swiftly, “Since we had parted ways after the day of awakening, I have not contacted him much lately. From what I heard, he fawned over the son of the deputy mayor called Lin Kai and squeezed into the gunner class last minute through that connection. The official statement is that he is to be the companion of Lin Kai.”

‘Companion? More like a subordinate or pawn!’

Qin Feng did not see this coming.

“Thanks for the info.”

“Qin Feng, don’t trouble yourself with that guy. The one that abducted us during the reunion was probably set up by him. No matter how good our past relationship was, we can’t risk trusting a dishonest person like him anymore. You got me?”

Zhou Hao knew that Qin Feng was always lenient toward Chen Ming. Though they had not been in touch after the awakening, Zhou Hao reckoned it was best to caution Qin Feng once more since he had brought up the subject.

“I know what to do.”

After he hung up, his eyes were still fixated on Chen Ming, who was still pompously showing off his skills.

Qin Feng focused on his legs and his frown deepened.

After he cut off Chen Ming’s legs, he had burned them to ashes right there and then. There was zero chance he could get those amputated legs reconnected. But no matter how Qin Feng looked at it, his legs were too natural to be prosthetic.

No matter how advanced technology was now, a prosthetic leg would still not bend this naturally like what Chen Ming had just performed.

What was more, it struck Qin Feng at odds that Chen Ming’s legs were full of strength and he was even stronger than before.

As a powerful consciousness user, there was no way Qin Feng would be mistaken in assessing Chen Ming, who was a few tiers behind him.

So, what miracle happened to him in such a short time?

Perhaps Qin Feng was looking too hard, or perhaps Chen Ming had long noticed Qin Feng. When Chen Ming went down the stage and glanced through the student seats, his gaze locked straight onto Qin Feng’s. A sense of resentment flashed across his face and disappeared rapidly.

Qin Feng stared at him as well. Possibly, this old friend of his had guessed who was the one that had broken off his legs.

That changed nothing, though. They were, after all, already standing on opposite ends from the day Qin Feng had been resurrected.

The gunner course had six classes in total. Two hours had passed when the whole exhibition event finally came to an end.

The abilities class students were growing impatient as they sat through the whole event.

The gunners were ranked first by the weapon-grade, then only by techniques. Chen Ming sat at no. 10, which was not at all a bad placement.

“Qin Feng, let’s discuss our party formation. Do you think you can recruit Zhao Yu from your class into our team?” Zhou Hao asked.

“Let me ask her now!” Zhao Yu was sitting right in front of Qin Feng. “Class rep, do you have a team yet?”

Zhao Yu was obviously everyone’s target in the abilities class. In a party, there were two ability users allowed while no such restriction was placed on ancient warriors and gunners.

Most of them were not familiar with Qin Feng so naturally everyone would like to team up with the friendlier Zhao Yu.

Zhao Yu did not accept the others’ invitations hastily because she was hoping to form an alliance with Qin Feng. Cheng Chao had also mentioned that it was best to group the strong students in one team. He promised to match them up during the party formation ceremony later.

Unexpectedly, Qin Feng asked Zhao Yu before Cheng Chao had even said anything.

“Not yet!” Zhao Yu shook her head.

“Then, join our team. What do you think?”

“Sure, Qin Feng! I should thank you for inviting me.” Zhao Yu accepted quickly.

Qin Feng grinned and asked for her student ID. “Another confirmed member of the team right now is the top student of the ancient warrior class. We still haven’t decided on other members yet.”

“You are speaking of Zhou Hao?”

“Yeah!”

“That would surely be a lot of pressure. Both of you are the best of the best!”

Zhao Yu was always the top in her class. That was only true before a monster named Qin Feng showed up. Although she was still ranked first this time, only Qin Feng and Zhou Hao were worthy to be called a genius in her opinion. She still had a lot of respect for Qin Feng even though he was placed last in the class. That did not alter the fact that Qin Feng was the best warrior in their age group.

“Relax. Spring Hunting Ground is nothing too difficult.”

Qin Feng called back to Zhou Hao to deliver the good news. “It’s settled.”

“Great! That means only two more slots left. I think we can ask one of my classmates. He is an ancient warrior with a unique ability.”

“How unique?” Qin Feng questioned.

“His inner power could heal internal wounds. He said that he is the descendent of an ancient warrior family that excels in healing. By the way, he is also currently studying medicine part-time.”

“Sounds good.” Qin Feng answered.

Inside the university, other than the three main courses, there were other subsidiary subjects that were more technical in nature. Anyone could pick up such crash courses without the need of being enrolled in the university.

These crash courses included medicine, cooking, agriculture, etc. These were means to help the general people survive the harsh world outside.

A course like culinary took only three months while plantation only lasted a year.

The entire medicine course was relatively long but it was shorter if only the first aid class was taken. Stuff like emergency treatment and stitching in the wild still required intensive learning and training.

With such a dependable teammate around, Zhou Hao and Zhao Yu would receive better care if they were accidentally wounded during the mission.
