Chapter 270 - Light Afraid Of People
"Evan, what do you think these people would do if you let them loose. Let\'s imagine that I\'m satisfied with the experiment results and let more than a thousand people go free who would be even stronger than Giel. What would happen in that case?" Rave asked.
"I don\'t know, if I were them, I\'d try to climb even higher." Evan quickly replied.
"You may be right, but the moment the experiment is over and I release them into the wild, they\'ll be exterminated. When the light organizations learn of their existence, they will try to kill them no matter what it takes." Rave said calmly.
"What? Why would they do that?" Evan was puzzled by such an assumption.
"It\'s simple. The Light organizations are afraid of any change, they\'re afraid they might lose their power and mightiness because of that change. This is the most important reason why they seek to destroy vampires and dark organizations. The light organizations want to rule alone in this kingdom."
Rave sighed and continued, "They fear the chaos that can result from vampires, monsters, and dark organizations. It\'s worth admitting that it\'s the dark organizations that create most of the chaos. The \'Merciful Death\' alone is constantly fighting and destroying things. The light organizations are trying to destroy the chaos and create an order completely under their control."
"But we-the dark organizations-are able to exist alongside and develop chaos. In a way, we are chaos, and these people in front of you are a clear confirmation of my words. They are a unique impulse for this world, and their creator is the Demonic Tree." Rave finished his long speech.
"Hmm, but what are they to do then? There\'s no way they can stand up to the light organizations. After all, they\'ll still be mere humans, albeit incredibly strong." Pronounced his thoughts Evan.
"It\'s obvious, they\'ll either die or join the dark organizations. We\'re not afraid of change, we create it and discover new and uncharted things. For the same reason, dark organizations have a good relationship with vampires. It will be the same situation here." Rave said calmly.
"Won\'t they want revenge on you? After all, you literally torture them and make them fight to the death. They live every day with the idea that this could be their last day because some monster is going to eat them." Asked Evan.
"I don\'t think so. There are tens of thousands of times more ordinary people than there are mages, monsters, and beasts. Humans multiply quite rapidly. Moral principles aside, all you have to do is have sex. It\'s a lot easier than awakening a talent for magic. That\'s why I was able to do some selection rather than kidnap every person I met." Rave said calmly.
"You mean they\'re here of their own volition?" Evan was puzzled.
"Not all of them, but many, yes. Some came here because they realized they could get power. The reasons for getting stronger are myriad. They knew all the risks, but they understood that it could work even though it seemed crazy. Giel was one of those people. A couple of people were desperate, they didn\'t want to live anymore, and this experiment was the only ray of hope in their lives. Some of them I brought here by force. In other words, it\'s mostly people who chose this fate for themselves." Pronounced Rave.
"Clearly, these people are sure to join the dark organizations. Especially after the light organizations start going after them. What\'s more, even those who want revenge on you will still end up taking your side. They will have two choices, either die from the light organizations or join the one who gave them this power."
"Exactly." Said Rave and waved his hand.
At that moment, one skeleton took Giel back to the cells and led the other fighter out. The second skeleton headed after the other monster.
This time the fighter would be a tall girl named Lilia. She had a muscular body, dark skin, and short blond hair.
[Lilia Crunke
Race - Human
Rank - 0.6]
<This girl is slightly weaker than Giel. Her score is 0.2 points less than his, but it all depends on her opponent.> Evan thought.
The monster to fight was a lizard-like creature. It was a rank zero monster, so it had no unique features or skills. All the lizard had was its tough chitin, sharp claws, and quick reflexes.
"That girl chose a rather unusual weapon, by the looks of it she\'s confident in her powers." Proclaimed Evan.
Lilia chose a short dagger and a long chain with a sharp tip as her weapons. Fighting with such a set of weapons would be quite difficult.
"Lilia likes to experiment. Evan, during these experiments, I have come to realize even more that, in fact, ordinary people are practically no different from us. What separates us is our ability to use magic. Like humans, there are geniuses and misfits among us. They only need to be empowered, they are just as talented as we are." Rave said calmly.
"Hmm? Wasn\'t that clear from the beginning? After all, I still consider myself human. We were all born on equal terms, everything else is just a game of fate. But, we can change that fate, that\'s how I see it." Evan said calmly.
He knew better than anyone what it meant to try to change the whole world. He knew that fate could not only be fought, it could be controlled and commanded. Everything depended on the situation. After all, to some extent, a magician could control the fate of an ordinary man. Of course, Evan was talking about fate making the rules of this world.
"Hah, of course, you\'re right. Evan, while Lilia is fighting this lizard, I would like to tell you about my request." Proclaimed Rave watching the battle.
Lilia skillfully used the chain and knocked the lizard to the ground. She was strong enough to do it. The monster tried to reach and attack her, but it failed. Lilia spun around it like a flash and delivered dozens of blows with her sharp dagger.. The ground beneath the monster\'s feet was already drenched in blood.
