Chapter 1624: Professional Ethics

Even if there was a difference in power, the city wall wouldn’t be so easily breached.
Fat Monkey really looked down on what Lu Li and these people called strategy.
“Mercenary brothers, we can’t let anyone underestimate us!” Crippled Black Ant roared as he blocked the opponents’ weapons. A whirlwind blew past. They had actually already died once before and dropped a piece of pretty good Dark equipment. Now, in its place, was a piece of equipment with slightly worse attributes.
The mercenaries brought their own equipment and potions to the fight. Afterwards, they’d be compensated. This was the most common way of doing things in the mercenary world.
Of course, if they bumped into a flashy rich employer, there was a chance they’d provide potions and even equipment. Evidently, Ruling Sword wasn’t that rich.
“That’s right, what do we need to be scared of? We’re bringing out our best, if we lose, they won’t take anything of ours. If we win, then we’re helping Ruling Sword repel the allied forces of Majin Temple and Azure Guard, and their name will be known throughout the whole world!” There was another Berserker turning his head, rushing towards the enemy while shouting in agreement.
His body flashed a few times. Before entering his battle mode, he changed a few pieces of equipment, including his weapons.
Fat Monkey’s eyeballs were almost popping out. Damn, turns out someone was concealing their power. What this guy was wearing couldn’t be the new set equipment out from Zul’Gurub, right? It has already been quite a few days since Ruling Sword got the first clear of Zul’Gurub, and quite a few teams had already passed the Instance Dungeon by following the strategy spread on the market.
“Chase them till they’re running like ducks! Every one of them! If not then just die! If you die, you’re still a man, if you’re hiding behind a girl, what are you? Give it a feel down there, are your balls still there? Do we have to get a red cloth and cover up your face? Don’t let people see how ugly you are.”
As soon as he opened his mouth, he made people – including Ruling Sword’s people – want to strangle him. Without a doubt, this was the minstrel Big Dog Li.
“Damn, Big Dog Li, you win.” Those who could stand him were few. Pretty much all of the ten mercenaries turned around and actively rushed to the opening to welcome the pursuing soldiers which were about to break into the stronghold. Many of these people had hidden weapons. What they were wearing was backup, with the best stuff left in their backpacks.
The equipment that was dropped in Dawn was the first equipment on the body and secondly props or potions in the backpack. Last was the backup equipment.
“I’m coming. You guys keep running,” Fat Monkey ordered as he turned his head. He was not someone who liked escaping, much less under these circumstances. The one that he was facing was Unforgettable Maple.
He had long wanted to compete with this old, established mage. It wasn’t great to look at this effeminate man’s face.
“Oh, so enthusiastic! Thanks for giving me equipment,” Unforgettable Maple mocked loudly. He had confidence facing off with Fat Monkey. After all, with age comes experience. Besides, at this time, his own side’s morale was swelling.
Unforgettable Maple subconsciously tilted his head to dodge, barely avoiding the Cheap Shot of the thief. Often, his instincts would take control of the body before his mind could keep up.
It wasn’t a successful Cheap Shot, but the thief still wasn’t discouraged.
A dagger appeared out from nowhere and swiped weakly at Unforgettable Maple’s shoulder. It took away a negligible amount of health.
Unforgettable Maple wasn’t sure whether the follow-up attack would be so light. He was still playing it very safe and acted cautiously, because he saw from the shape of the body that this was the shameless villain Lu Li.
His step back was then welcomed with Fat Monkey’s Dragon’s Breath.
Stun!
He couldn’t avoid the stun in time, because Lu Li had already coordinated his next move.
Regardless of whether Crippled Black Ant and his team would come, Ruling Sword’s main forces would be coordinated with Lu LI and Fat Monkey’s counter-attack. The people they brought with them definitely weren’t as good as their usual strongest line-up.
At least March Rain, Lonesome Flower, Sesame Rice Ball and Mu Qiu were here. Oh, and also Fat Monkey, the guy who had no limit to how bad his acting skills were. He almost screwed up the act. Next time, he definitely won’t be part of the plan.
But him and Lu Li together would still be considered a perfect team.
Lu Li allowed the opponent to siege the stronghold’s walls because he wanted to see these mercenaries’ performance. Regardless of the reaction of the mercenaries, he couldn’t abandon the protection of the wall.
The good thing was that these mercenaries’ performance was alright, especially Crippled Black Ant. From start to finish he was fighting with all his strength. The other berserker was also not bad. Though a bit slick and sly, he was really rational in weighing up advantages and disadvantages.
Oh, there was also the minstrel Big Dog Li...he was still not bad.
The people joining back into the battle again from the back could only be said to be relatively weak mercenaries. They didn’t meet Lu Li’s required standards of hiring real talent. If they wanted to enter Ruling Sword, they would only begin as ordinary members.
Lu Li arranged for some people just to observe them, and they would make a fair analysis and assessment afterwards.
“Lu Li, you old treacherous snake! Why can’t you have a fair fight with me?” Leaving behind these last words, Unforgettable Maple had been sent to the respawn point. Unforgettable Maple finally realised that he had underestimated the enemy again.
He also didn’t what was wrong with Lu Li. Unexpectedly, it was only after he had crashed into the wall that he began to ‘fight for his life’ at the last minute.
“Tsk, couldn’t even survive a single blow,” Fat Monkey scoffed while arrogantly sticking up his middle finger. He’d already recorded the scene of the battle. He’ll put it up on the forum later, showing everyone how he’d thrown the mage off his horse.
Wait, what about Lu Li’s help? That shouldn’t be hard, just photoshop him out.
Actually, these shameless people didn’t just include Lu Li. Or you could say that this attribute of shamelessness was spreading around.
As soon as Unforgettable Maple died, the few people who had followed him in were cleaned up. The people at the back found it even harder to get in. After the battle, the alliance troops dropped some equipment and temporarily evacuated from the walls.
After all, this constant fighting wasn’t the solution. The people respawning at the back couldn’t rush over soon enough and were finished off before they could even reach the walls.
Withdrawing to a safe position and waiting for those who had respawned to regroup with was a better plan. Or, they could wait for Ruling Sword to chase them out and then start counterattack.
“Thank you everyone for really working hard. We guarantee we won’t treat you unfairly in the future,” Lu Li said, sighing with relief. Of course, they wouldn’t pursue their attackers, instead they begun repairs.
“You shouldn’t,” Crippled Black Ant said with a complex expression. He wasn’t just some naïve youth, and what was more, he was the most powerful here.
