Online Game: Don’t Heal the Others

Chapter 169 - Server-Wide Treasure Hunt

Su Tingting didn’t have a lot of people around to watch her back. Nor did she wish to use her physical beauty as an advantage, as evident from the mask she wore. Although Su Tingting was Si Yejing’s best friend, she knew that Si Yejing’s hands were tied due to her involvement with Liu Qiangwei. Si Yejing had to act in the best interests of the Midsummer Guild (Liu Qiangwei, really) at all times. In other words, Si Yejing couldn’t be too protective of Su Tingting.

Additionally, Si Yejing’s own equipment wasn’t too stellar (relatively to Xiao Feng, of course), either: a pair of Golden Grade daggers and a set of rare, silver body armor. Most of Si Yejing’s equipment was the benefit granted to her by Liu Qiangwei. To an average player, or even an elite player like Su Tingting, Si Yejing’s equipment would be considered as luxuries.

The experience points obtained from clearing the instance zone were shared among the three players. Half of each portion was granted to each player’s mount and pet. With that, the experience bars of all three players rose another section.

Xiaofeng didn’t leave after he got out of the instance zone. Instead, he led the other two players to a nearby location to do some leveling. It would be 12 am soon, at which time the instance zone would be refreshed. They might as well just stay and complete the instance zone mission for tomorrow.

The leveling was done in the same way as it had always been done, with Xiaofeng sprawled on the ground lazily while the two women slaughtered creep after creep. Xiaofeng summoned Xiaoxue to suck up some experience points to give her some cushion. For the first time, Xiaofeng found that being a priest was pretty damn fun.

He didn’t have to move at all to gain enough experience points to level up. How easy and relaxing was that, right? What was the point of busting his ass when he could just sit back, chill, relax, and just suck up all the experience points? All he had to do was renew the BUFFs on the two women, and that was it.

In a leisurely manner, Xiaofeng watched as the two female bodies moved across the field, fighting off creeps. Si Yejing was dressed entirely in black, like a crow. Xiaofeng didn’t let his eyes linger on Si Yejing; he turned his head to admire Su Tingting instead.

Indeed, leather armor looked best on female players. Su Tingting’s body armor had a simple design, just enough to cover the most important parts of her body. At the moment, Su Tingting’s pale, soft, and slim waist were ostentatiously displayed in Xiaofeng’s line of sight. Not to mention those slender legs of hers, which seemed to go on forever. Every single one of her movements was highly aesthetic, like a beautifully choreographed fight sequence.

Here he was, relaxing on the ground, accumulating experience points, all the while satisfying his aesthetic needs—he wouldn’t turn away a free strip-tease, that was for sure. In other words, Xiaofeng was having the time of his life. Becoming a priest was really the best decision of his life.

That good feeling, however, only lasted for a few minutes. “Hey, what the—” Xiaofeng narrowly avoided a rock that had been hurled at him by Si Yejing. “What are you doing? Are you nuts?” “Phew. That was close.” Xiaofeng had been too busy admiring Su Tingting’s legs and had nearly been walloped in the face by a rock.

Si Yejing snorted and started complaining to Su Tingting. “Tingting, this despicable man was staring lewdly at you!”

That managed to get Su Tingting’s attention as well, as she instantly turned her head around. “Since when have you become so sleazy, Master Xiao?” Su Tingting said, glaring contemptuously at Xiaofeng.

Then, she took out a fashionable dress—something like a cloak—and used it to cover her body from the waist down. She had been so focused on fighting creeps that she didn’t notice that someone was ogling her from behind.

“Pfft.” Xiaofeng snorted in disdain and averted his gaze. He was just about to return to his R and R when something happened, something completely unexpected. In the sky overhead, a voice resounded. A server-wide announcement was being made.

“Attention all players! The total number of players across all servers who had exceeded Level 10 has just broken the 90% mark! The first-ever server-wide event of Myth has just been activated! The server-wide treasure hunt! Starting from this moment, a demon sentry who carries a pass to the event will spawn on all major maps! The sentry will drop a treasure hunt token once it has been defeated! The server-wide treasure hunt will officially begin in one day, and any player who possesses the token will be teleported straight to the event ground! Details of the event could be found on the official sites of all districts. Lucrative rewards will be given to those who do well in this server-wide event. The final reward will be a divine artifact! Players across all servers are highly encouraged to participate!”

“Attention all players! …”

“Attention all players! …”

“Attention all players! …”

“Attention all players! …”

The five consecutive server-wide announcements, which came like a bolt from the blue, stunned Xiaofeng. Si Yejing and Su Tingting were stunned as well. Both of them seemed to have completely forgotten that they were still surrounded by creeps; their HP points nearly dropped to zero as they were too stunned to clear the creeps.

“A server-wide event with a divine artifact as the final reward?” Xiaofeng was still in a bit of a daze when he quickly accessed the official site. There was indeed an announcement on the site’s homepage. Meanwhile, Si Yejing and Su Tingting defeated the creeps as quickly as possible. After that, they followed Xiaofeng’s lead and accessed the official site as well.

The announcement on the official site had been posted half an hour ago. All three of them had missed it because they were in the middle of an instance zone mission at the time. Now that the server-wide announcement had been made, they were finally starting to grasp the gravity of the situation.

A server-wide event!

Details about the map of the event had yet to be revealed, though it seemed to be a special map designed by the system and not an extension of the Land of God.

The event would commence in exactly 24 hours, in other words, at midnight tomorrow. All players who held the event’s pass would immediately be teleported to the event’s map. Players across all major districts would be teleported to the same map! This meant that they would most certainly run into players from other districts!

Details about the event’s mission were unknown at the moment. All they knew was that the final reward was a frigging divine artifact! That alone was enough to drive all players into a frenzy!

The only details announced were the requirements for the event’s participation: the event’s pass or the treasure hunt token, which would be dropped following the defeat of a demon sentry. Demon sentries would start spawning on all major maps serverwide after the announcement just now.

A bright glint formed inside Su Tingting’s eyes. “I haven’t misheard anything, have I? A divine artifact? What the heck!” Su Tingting exclaimed in shock. “The reward for this server-wide event is way too awesome! Hell, there are only a few immortal pieces of equipment among the several billions of players in the whole game server! But this event will be giving out a divine artifact as a reward!”

“This event will definitely cause a stir among all players,” Si Yejing whispered in awe. “A divine artifact? That’s enough to drive everyone out of their minds.”

Xiaofeng shook his head and said, “It won’t be easy to obtain a divine artifact. I bet a lot of players would be eliminated during the acquisition of the event pass alone. Bear in mind that the event pass can only be obtained after a special creep, the demon sentry, is defeated. It’s still unclear how many times the demon sentries will respawn. But I can say for sure that it won’t be a lot. Definitely not enough to send several tens of thousands of players to the event.”

Xiaofeng understood very well that the just the acquisition of the event pass alone would eliminate a great number of players. In fact, forget about the final reward, at this point, even the demon sentries would become things that would make players die.

“That’s easy for you to say!” Si Yejing snapped. “Do you know just how tempting a piece of divine artifact is for most players? Yeah, of course you feel peachy and all that. Since you’re the owner of the only two divine artifacts in the whole game server.” Si Yejing glared at Xiaofeng furiously. She had no idea how this despicable man had come to be in the possession of those divine artifacts.

Su Tingting’s voice interrupted their exchange. “Wait, guys! Stop talking for a moment! Check out that creep!” Su Tingting pointed at a human-shaped creep lurking not far away from them. The creature had black skin, and it had a huge and tall build. Two horns poked out from the top of its head. Attached to its shoulder blades were two black, fleshy wings.

“What a coincidence,” Xiaofeng muttered in surprise.

Hovering above the head of that creep were none other than the words: “Demon Sentry”! In training grounds like this, where only zombies were spawned, the appearance of such a creep was conspicuous and eye-catching, to say the least.

“What? An Elite BOSS at level 20?” Su Tingting said, staring at the creep in shock. Sure, the name “demon sentry” didn’t sound flashy or badass at all. But it turned out to be a BOSS with such incredible attributes!

Xiaofeng, on the other hand, merely nodded. He’d been right all along. Just the acquisition of the event pass alone could trip up a lot of players. This event was obviously meant for elite players. Average players would be lucky enough to walk away from the demon sentry with their body parts intact, let alone defeat it and then secure the event pass.

Then again, there was something about the sentry that held Xiaofeng’s interest; namely, the fact that its attribute was listed as “demon”. It was Xiaofeng’s first encounter with a creep with that attribute. At the same time, he knew that the demon attribute was the antithesis of his own holy attribute.

So far, the attributes with an affinity to light were the natural, enlightened, and holy attributes. Each of those attributes corresponded to these races: the elves, the humans, and the angels, respectively.

On the other hand, the attributes with an affinity to darkness were the undead, accursed, and demon attributes. It goes without saying just how powerful the demon attribute was.

“Hurry, hurry! Let’s defeat the demon sentry before someone else does!” Su Tingting shouted anxiously once she had recovered from her shock.

Just when she was about to lead the charge, Su Tingting sudden remembered the two masters standing behind her. Pretty sure even a Level 20 BOSS was a piece of cake for those two.

Then again, they were still too late. This location was near the Abandoned Town instance zone, where a lot of players were waiting for it to be refreshed at midnight. By the time Xiaofeng, Si Yejing, and Su Tingting got there, the demon class sentry was already surrounded by a group of players.

This group consisted of more than 10 players. Obviously, this was a party formed to take on instance zone missions; the members consisted of warriors, mages, archers, and priests. It was an all-rounded squad. Judging from the fact that there were less than 20—the minimum requirement to form a party—of them, there had to be several assassins lurking around in the dark.

The leader of the group, a shield warrior, stepped out immediately when he noticed the arrival of Xiaofeng, Si Yeching, and Su Tingting. “Yo, friend. We’re the ones who discovered the demon sentry first. Please respect the fact that we were here first,” he said calmly.

The shield warrior knew that his party was a well-oiled and experienced squad. He knew they had the ability to take on the sentry. In addition, he didn’t see much threat at all in Xiaofeng’s measly party of three.

“So? What do we do? Should we take it by force?” Su Tingting asked in a half-excited and half-tentative tone. She hadn’t taken care to speak quietly, so her voice had already been heard by the other 10-plus players, who instantly activated their battle modes.

“All this killing and massacre is just terrible,” Xiaofeng said, taking a step back to reveal Si Yejing behind him. “I guess it’s your time to shine then.” Then, Xiaofeng just stood there with his arms crossed. It was as if he was planning to do nothing except sit back and watch the show.

Si Yejing glared at Xiaofeng in annoyance before taking two steps forward. Then, she disabled the invisibility feature of her character name. Two words flashed before everyone’s eyes: Night Cooer.

“Night, Night Cooer!”

“Holy sh*t! It’s Master Night Cooer!”

“What the f*ck! Can’t believe we ran into the Night Cooer herself!”
