The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 40

Secretary K short circuited for a moment. His thumb pointing at the passageway he stammered, “Uh.... he uh.... he is getting a haircut.”

Zi Xingxi, “....”

“You must be kidding me. He doesn’t know how to cut.... wait, Chronos?..... Shit, I knew it was too quiet. I am going to kill that AI.....,” she said running up the stairs.

Secretary K had never seen her run that fast for anything. Even in the face of danger, she wouldn’t run instead she would be catwalking like she was a model on the runway giving zero fucks.

“Don’t worry, this isn’t as weird as it looks. She was obsessed with you know who’s hair so it makes sense that she values Han Han’s hair. I am just not sure if it’s a blessing or curse for him to inherit that head of hair at this point,” explained Zi Feiji before taking a sip of his hot cocoa with a contented smile.

Secretary K, “....”

That was news to him.

Meanwhile, upstairs the door was opened with a loud bang and the angry mama bear commanded, “Chronos! Put the shears down!”

.....

Chronos, “....”

Fuck putting the shears down it would rather disappear from the face of the planet. The miniature Chronos fell with a clang as the culprit vanished to who knows where.

Zi Xingxi rushed over and checked if his hair was okay. She only heaved a sigh when she saw that Chronos hadn’t started cutting. “You!... You know I am the only one who can cut your hair so why would you let..... haaaa,” she said frustratedly as she pinched the bridge of her nose, “If you wanted a hair cut you should have asked me.”

“Okay, then I want a crew cut,” he said with a look of seriousness like he wasn’t taking any prisoners. Translation, he wasn’t taking no for an answer.

“No, the best I can give you is a tampered cut,” she said sitting cross-legged on the floor beside him.

A small smile appeared at the corner of Zi Han’s lips only for his mother to douse him in cold water. “Only if you let me do whatever I want beforehand,” she said while reaching out to rub his head.

What did she mean by doing whatever she wants? That meant a complete salon experience including a curling iron.

If he wanted that tampered cut he would have to pay the ultimate price. This was the third time ever since he was old enough to protest that his mother convinced him to do this.

The past two times his mother said she wanted to enroll into beauty school hence she was using him as a practice dummy. It turns out that was a lie and all she wanted was to mess with his hair. What he didn’t know was that he wasn’t her first victim.

His father had to sit still for hours at least once a month as she did whatever she wanted with his hair. Zi Han actually had it easy. He only had to experience it a couple of times when compared to his father.

“Fine just don’t dye my hair. The last time you dyed it pink and I was laughed at by those little girls in our complex. It was so brutal..... they even called me a freaking unicorn. What does a unicorn even look like? Everyone knows they don’t exist,” he complained recalling that terrifying experience.

Zi Xingxi chuckled as she said, “If it makes you feel any better you looked like a handsome unicorn. Oh, I still have this picture..... maybe I should show it to your grandpa.”

“AAAAHHHHH please don’t. Its dark history I would rather remain buried,” he said dodging her fingers running through his hair.

“Tch, don’t be overly dramatic. Come, let’s go to wash your hair,” she said with so much excitement written on her face that it terrified Zi Han. He might end up regretting this decision.

While Zi Han was questioning whether getting a tempered cut was worth it enough for him to go through all of this, Yi Chen was regretting coming home at all.

Why? Well, his mother was determined to make him miserable. To fully grasp his current situation. One has to go back ten minutes in time.

After a much well-deserved rest he came downstairs just in time for dinner. As he passed the main door his father happened to walk in at the same time his face all smiles like something good had happened to him.

Well, he was smiling but his subordinates weren’t. Since they chose death by laughing at his misfortune during the meeting like an overlord he made them all work overtime while he left early. So yes, he was in a very jovial mood.

“You are in a great mood today,” said Yi Chen while helping his father remove his coat after sending off the humanoid butler.

“You know messing with my colleagues puts me in a fine mood,” he replied before the two of them walked to the dining room, “By the way has she spoken to you yet?”

Yi Chen knew the ‘she’ he was referring to and what he should have talked about with her but he wasn’t in the mood to have that conversation.

“I did.... but she keeps insisting,” he said as they stood by the door for a moment.

Marshal Yi patted his back twice before saying, “I will try and help you out but I make no promises.”

Of course, he couldn’t make any promises. If there is one person Marshal Yi yields to all the time it would be Lin Ruoxi. That woman could bend him to her will with ease which was in itself the greatest form of power in the federation.

Marshal Yi controlled the military and she controlled Marshal Yi. That should paint an accurate picture of the hierarchical structure. This is why Yi Chen didn’t have much hope that his father could convince her otherwise.
