The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 282

The flash of light in the dim lit entertainment room was especially conspicuous. Before he could take a look his father who had been forced to watch a children’s movie by Ming Ming leaned over and whispered to his son. “You better not pick that up. If I am watching then you also have to watch. We will suffer through this together.”

Yi Chen, “...”

The little Nimsel in his custody raised its head and glared at the Marshal as though displeased because he was talking through the movie.

“What are you looking at you little rat?” he whispered only for Ming Ming to turn towards him and put her dad in his place.

“Dad, you aren’t watching... but you promised,” she said pouting her lips.

“Oh, sorry honey. I wa-,” he said only for the nimsel he had offended earlier to jump on his face and stomp on him with an attitude before jumping into Ming Ming’s arms.

Marshal Yi, “...”

Yi Chen lowered his head while pressing his lips together trying not to laugh. He covered his lips with his forefinger and thumb hiding the quirk at the corner of his lips.

.....

“What is that thing doing here anyway?” asked Marshal Yi in a low whisper.

Yi Chen moved in closer and whispered, “I am taking care of it on his behalf.”

“Dage,” called Ming Ming feeling dissatisfied. Lin Ruoxi stroked her daughter’s hair soothingly while glancing over at her son. They all had been quite busy lately and didn’t have time to gather like this together thus she backed up Ming Ming when the little girl requested movie night.

Yi Chen shook his head and got up to leave. He had a sneaky suspicion that Zi Han was the one who messaged him earlier and anything to do with Zi Han kept him on edge these days.

“Where are you going?” asked Ming Ming and Yi Chen answered casually,

“Bathroom.”

“Bring us more popcorn,” yelled Yi Youxi just as Yi Chen’s figure disappeared.

Yi Chen didn’t really want to go to the bathroom. He just wanted to check his light brain. He directly walked to the kitchen while opening his messages. It was indeed from Zi Han. The words ‘I miss you’ made him smile like a fool.

Leaning against the wall he bit his lower lip while clicking on the image to see what Zi Han had sent to him. To be honest he was half expecting it to be a shirtless picture of Zi Han but when he saw the cup of hot chocolate with the brand carnero he was still smiling.

What worried him though was the fact that Zi Han was outside at this hour without him.

Someone’sBae: Since you miss me, do you want me to keep you company?

Yi Chen waited and waited but Zi Han didn’t respond. The housekeeping robot finished making the popcorn but Zi Han still hadn’t replied. That’s because he was up to some shady stuff that the future Marshal shouldn’t know about.

The pair of mother and son were in a remote location with Zi Xingxi sitting down in a chair with her legs crossed at the knees smoking her demeanor calm.

In the background were sounds of a body being kicked repeatedly followed by loud sobs and painful groans.

“That’s enough,” said Zi Xingxi and Secretary K handed Zi Han a wet wipe to wipe the blood off his hands.

The man who had been beaten to the ground curled up into a ball his complexion ghastly as he wailed in pain. Zi Han pushed back the damp strands of hair that were sticking to his forehead while breathing heavily.

After writhing on the ground for a while the man finally managed to raise his body into a kneel and faced the woman who was sitting on the chair while blowing out a puff of dense smoke.

“... Please sp, spare my...,” he said before spitting out a mouthful of blood and continuing, “spare my life. I have a family. I will give you anything even money... jus, just please.”

Zi Xingxi pressed the tip of her tongue against her cheek while staring at the man with a villainous air surrounding her.

“You know he also had a family, right?”

The man was a little confused at first but deep down he knew what she was referring to. He relived that nightmare every single night and could only make up for it by accumulating merit but no amount of good merit could absolve him from his crime.

The man wiped away the blood at the corner of his lips with his trembling wrists bound together.

“I can give you mon, money,” he repeated it again but Zi Xingxi shut him down immediately.

“You mean the blood money you got from actively participating in the murder of a royal family member? Is that the money you want to offer me?”

Bam!!

Zi Han directly kicked the man to the ground. He used a lot of force but it felt like he was still restraining himself.

The man broke down and began to explain frantically. “I didn’t kno-know... I, they came to me. I tho, thought it would be like the other times. I didn’t mean for anyone to get killed... I just... please,” he pled with Zi Xingxi.

He thought he was helping his case but he wasn’t. The more he spoke the angrier Zi Han became. He clenched his fists tightly till his knuckles turned white recalling all the years he had seen his mother break down. His eyes turned red his body filled with killing intent. Didn’t this man think of the consequences when he did what he did? He greedily took the money and sentenced an innocent, hardworking person to death. Didn’t he think that whoever was going to drive that mech had a family too?

Should Zi Han be merciful? Should he be forgiving? Every action had consequences and for this man, he was the consequence.
