The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 287

His slightly bent back made him look like a lonely stubborn wolf waiting beside his lover’s bedside watching him intently.

Minutes turned to hours and hours turned into half a night. Zi Han finally slipped underneath the quilt and lay on Yi Chen’s chest. Yi Chen was no longer having nightmares but he was still sleeping which was expected considering what he had been through.

Zi Han playfully rubbed the man’s chest as he whispered, “Husband, you have to get better. The longer you stay asleep the more I starve...”

Believe me the starving he was referring to wasn’t from the lack of nourishment but the lack of physical intimacy.

Zi Han placed his bare thigh across Yi Chen’s lower half and his arm across the man’s bare chest hugging him like an octopus. Considering that he was only wearing a pair of underwear Zi Han looked like he was ready for action any time anywhere.

AN: It would have been best if he was wearing crotchless underwear but anyway...

The housekeeping system dimmed the lights as per the room settings. Zi Han didn’t sleep so well. He kept picturing himself having fallen into the portal and being hooked to a makeshift machine that looked like a healing capsule connected to some other miscellaneous things. Zi Han wasn’t an engineer but he could understand a little of what the heck that thing was. His dream was so realistic that he felt a strong emotion like that of being trapped in such a small space for a very long time.

Zi Han’s breath condensed onto the screen of the healing capsule making it very difficult for him to see. He reached over with his trembling fingers to wipe away the condensation on the glass but he found that he couldn’t raise it that far. That’s because sharp needles were deep in his skin and each time he moved they would stab deeper making him cry out.

.....

Zi Han felt so terrified that he could barely breathe and the longer he stayed in such an environment the more stifled his breath became.

Just when he thought was going to suffocate to death he got up gasping for air his forehead covered in a layer of cold sweat.

With his upper body sitting up straight he clutched his chest his dazed eyes looking around the room. When he found that he was at the apartment lying in the bedroom his chaotic mind calmed down more especially when he saw Yi Chen lying next to him with a relaxed look on his face.

Zi Han reached over to touch Yi Chen’s forehead and felt an explicable sense of relief when he felt that it was as cool as it normally should be.

He pushed back his hair while asking, “Raylan, what is his current health condition.”

Since Zi Han was authorized to give Raylan orders it didn’t argue. It immediately pulled up Yi Chen’s health status.

“Sir will recover soon. A few more hours of sleep will help,” said Raylan in the most monotonous voice. Raylan was not like Hydra, Chronos, and Igneous. It was meant to follow orders and barely had a personality of its own thus its response was as blunt as its owner.

Zi Han glanced over at Yi Chen his heart beating hard against his chest. He licked his bottom lip in frustration before lying on top of Yi Chen. He stroked Yi Chen’s hair his gaze fixated on the man’s closed eyelids.

He kissed the man’s eyes, cheek, nose, and lips pouring out his heart with that light touch. He didn’t think when he woke up Yi Chen would still be passed out cold.

Zi Han who had just had a terrible nightmare suddenly wanted to be comforted. To be more precise he wanted Yi Chen to comfort him but the person was sleeping soundlessly like he was on vacation.

“Baby, why don’t you wake up,” he whispered while rubbing the tip of Yi Chen’s nose with his.

His warm breath grazed Yi Chen’s skin but the man didn’t even respond. “Do you want me to say that I Iove you?” he continued to say his intense gaze focused on Yi Chen’s eyes, “I love you... I love you so much. Now please wake up.”

But there was no response at all. The person remained cold and indifferent like he hadn’t heard anything. Zi Han chuckled laughing at himself. Now could he expect that the man would wake just because of these three words alone? How that he had said it he felt rather stupid.

He planted a soft lingering kiss on Yi Chen’s forehead before getting off the bed.

Having said that word aloud he felt like he had just poked a hole into his heart and let his vulnerability known to the world. He felt a wave of complicated emotions right now. He was both happy that Yi Chen was sleeping and didn’t hear his declaration of love but at the same time he was so disappointed that he had wasted those words for a sleeping person.

Since the sun was about to rise Zi Han decided to make him some nourishing soup or something thus he left the bedroom but the moment he stepped out Yi Chen’s fingers move and his eyelids were flickering like he was about to wake up but soon after his movements weakened as he fell back into the deep abyss.

His dreams didn’t make any sense but it was a nightmare in themselves. That’s because he couldn’t find his loved one anywhere. He was living his life in an impoverished place, a place nothing like the federation with his heart yearning for his beloved but he didn’t know who that person was or where they were.

He knew he was here in that place for that person but who that person was he had no idea. The feeling of not knowing terrified him so much that he couldn’t bear it.

After being tormented by his nonsensical dreams he finally opened his eyes and woke up. He was expecting himself to wake up in a healing capsule at the base but instead, he found himself sleeping in his bed at home alone but his body showed signs that he was being taken care of.

He opened his mouth and was about to ask Raylan what happened when he smelt the delectable fragrance of homemade breakfast.

From the fragrance alone he could tell it wasn’t his mother’s cooking but Zi Han’s. He got off the bed intending to go see his baby who had been taking care of him last night when he felt a sharp pain in his arm.

He raised his arm and checked the cut on it. It had healed already but he still felt slight pain underneath his skin.

When he walked over to the kitchen he saw a half clothed man with his back straight as he opened the lid of the crockpot. Yi Chen felt his heart blossom like flowers in spring seeing this scene. Li Ran was right. The man never said the L word but that didn’t mean he didn’t love him.

Zi Han was slaving away making him nutritious soup to nourish his body instead of sleeping in like usual. Yi Chen walked over and hugged Zi Han from behind unable to suppress the smile on his face.

Zi Han’s body froze in place as he swallowed his saliva a little startled. He didn’t expect Yi Chen to suddenly wake up and embrace him like thus his entire body was tense not knowing how to react for a moment. Yi Chen nuzzled in the crevice of Zi Han’s neck, a big man acting coquettish like he had been wronged.

Zi Han moved his head away unable to bear the ticklish sensation from Yi Chen’s stubble on his neck. Yi Chen caressed and kneaded Zi Han’s waist while speaking in a low seductive voice that had Zi Han feeling an inexplicable thirst that wasn’t there before. “Baby, what are you making?”

Zi Han bit his bottom lip his cheeks heating up. His heart jolted as a sweet feeling spread all over his chest. He was very happy Yi Chen was awake but he did his very best not to appear overly excited. “You have been asleep for so long and this is the first thing you say to me?” asked Zi Han while glancing down at the fingers enthusiastically grasping his t-shirt like a hungry beast desperate to tear off the fabric, press him down and eat him. He felt an electrifying feeling spread all over his body tickling his senses.

Yi Chen’s hands roving around his body made him feel especially good. Zi Han was so happy that he felt the urge to kneel on one knee and propose marriage. He was so in love with Yi Chen but he would never admit it... at least not yet.
