The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 368

“It seems someone rearranged his face before we got to him,” said Zi Han looking at the obvious slap marks.

Zi Xingxi sucked in a breath of cold air hissing before saying, “His grandmother probably did that. Do you know she was a four time slap contest heavyweight champion so yep she probably did that? She also fought in the mixed gender category too. She beat the shit out of those burly men until their own mothers couldn’t recognize them. With that kind of grandma, I don’t understand how he still turned out to be a pervert?” said Zi Xingxi looking at the terrified young man.

Zi Han shrugged his lips before punching the young man and knocking him out. This kind of person deserved no sympathy considering what he put his victims through. He deserved to suffer the severest of punishments so Zi Han wasn’t at all courteous.

Zi Xingxi patted his shoulder while asking, “Did you watch the witness statements of all his victims?”

Zi Han nodded his head. This was how the Bloodgarde worked. When they received contracts they would first do extensive investigations followed by mandatory witness statements from the victims.

The assassins taking up the contracts needed to know and feel the emotions of the wronged persons. This was so that they could relate with the victim and feel what they felt so they won’t have mercy on the perpetrator.

Like the others, Zi Han was forced to endure four hours of the girls and boys retelling the events in their own words.

Most of young master Croft’s victims were from poor backgrounds some without a mother or father to protect them. He was a well known philanthropist in the most impoverished communities but behind the curtains, he was donating to their orphanages so he could take advantage of the children. Because their matrons and managers sent them to him the children had no opportunity to refuse.

.....

They were forced to under the guise of self sacrifice for the greater good. In return, they would get massive amounts of donations and the managers of the orphanages could even expropriate the funds without any fear of retribution.

Zi Han didn’t intend on letting go of the people who ran the orphanages. In fact, he intended on gathering them all one by one and then making them go through the same thing those children went through. He just had to start with the head of the snake.

The other victims were either sold to young master Croft by their fathers or mothers to earn a good amount of star coins and when he was done with his victims he would pay the parent. Zi Han couldn’t wait to torment this person until they were not recognizable.

A short drive away outside the city, they reached the secret banker and the knocked out man was dragged by two strong men into a soundproofed room.

The room was indeed soundproofed but Zi Han and Zi Xingxi who were sipping on some tea could hear some faint screams coming from that direction.

Zi Han’s brows creased as he tasted it. He had on disgusted expression while asking, “What tea is this?”

Zi Xingxi who was enjoying it set her porcelain cup down and said, “It’s earl grey tea, why?”

Zi Han felt like his throat was dry with the bitterness travelling down from his tongue to his throat.

“Why does it taste so awful?” he asked rummaging through his pockets to find some candy... any candy would do.

“Did you put sugar in it?” she asked and Zi Han looked at her strangely like she was an alien.

“Doesn’t it come with the sugar in it already?” asked Zi Han wishing he could cleanse his tongue from all that bitter taste.

“Haha no, here try one teaspoon,” said Zi Xingxi putting in a teaspoon of sugar for him.

Zi Han stirred it vigorously like he was stirring a mixture of spice blends in a vat for a spice factory. He finally took a sip but his expression didn’t change at all.

He was still disgruntled by the bitterness and astringency from this monstrosity. Zi Han coughed while accusing his mother, “Are you trying to kill me?”

Zi Xingxi laughed upon hearing this. She added one more teaspoon and said, “You really are a drama king. If I did that your father would haunt me every single night... How is it now?”

Zi Han took a hesitant sip but his expression was still taut. “It’s better but I would much prefer having sweet wine right now,” he said while asking himself why he even accepted his mother’s offer. To him, tea wasn’t tea unless if it was milk tea. Every other tea was unworthy in his eyes.

“Can I add milk?” he asked but his mother’s glare said everything.

Zi Han reached over and added one more... no two more teaspoons of sugar. By the time he drank it he was basically drinking syrup.

Zi Xingxi couldn’t even be bothered scolding him. The kid had managed to ruin precious tea that was available on old earth and rare in the federation.

His expression was so contented that Zi Xingxi couldn’t help but shake her head watching him drink with squinted eyes.

“Too much sugar for my liking,” she said.

“It tastes really good like this. You should try it,” replied Zi Han and Zi Xingxi couldn’t understand how her son was so similar to his father despite having not met him.

Was it hereditary or something? Yeoh Jun wouldn’t have tea with her unless he had four teaspoons of sugar. He would buy a lot of sweet cakes for himself every day which was quite unsettling.

If he didn’t have the healing ability in his body Zi Xingxi was sure he would have been diagnosed with diabetes. Now her son had inherited the same trait of eating sugar like it was vital for survival. They were absolutely cut from the same cloth despite having not met each other.
